Hat Box Foundation was established in the winter of 2007 as a volunteer-based non-profit organization with a mission to make and distribute FREE hand-made hats to people with cancer and others in need.

We believe something made from the heart can help heal the human spirit. With that in mind, each hat distributed through the foundation is 100% hand-knitted or crocheted by a group of volunteers across the country. Since each hat is made by hand, each hat is unique and offers that special ingredient of kindness. And because of the generous donations from our volunteers and sponsors, we are able to give the hats FREE of charge to the well-deserving recipients. As we expand our efforts across the US, we hope you will join us in our journey.
Hat Box Foundation is an IRS approved 501(c)(3) public charity.
The above information is directly from the Hat Box Foundation Web Page.  They are a well established charaity an if you know a hospital or center in need you may be able to contact them, to see how to add them so they can receive hats.  Links to free pattern Crochet patterns

Time to get ready to Think Pink

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is October

Breast Cancer Awareness Month brings on special meaning to many of us.  So many people have been Breast Cancer patients, or family members and friends of Cancer patients.  There is more hope each day as new progress is being made to fight this beast.  Research and cures for all types of Cancer will benefit other cancers in the long run.  This is a great time to reach out and help.  For me this is a bitter sweet event, my best friend did not have her cancer detected soon enough, she fought a brave battle for 5 years.  I learned so much as I spent quality time with her, daughter and family during her last six months, going to Chemotherapy treatments at Duke University and seeing people there with spirit and hope from teens to the elderly was a life changing experience. We went out to do her favorite activity; Bingo and spent lots of time just sitting on her couch together. God blessed me by letting me hold her hand as she took her last breath and her spirit left her broken vessel.  It has been fourteen years now and there is so many advanced treatments and medications.  We can't depend on the government to fund the research that is needed.  If we can all do a little, we can change the world.  If you are a Cancer Patient or a Friend or Family member has Cancer let me know and I will put you in my prayers.  I believe we can win this one.

Please let me know of any projects you are working on for Breast Cancer Awareness and send a picture if you can and I will be happy to post it, lets inspire others.  I will also post any special events you have going on in your communities.

With heartfelt thoughts,
Debby Gibson

Beautiful Hand Made items on auction to support the Patrick Dempsey Center for Caner Hope In Healing

I love too see hand made items included in special events such as "The Dempsey Challenge"

I recently learned of this event and hope to be a part of the online auction for next year's event.

Here is a wonderful example of the hand made items is the knitted sweater.

I can only imagine the hours of work and skill that went to making the wearable work of art.
My Grammy taught me to knit and crochet when I was 10, I'm working on bring my skills back but I am years from accomplishing anything close to this.

Please visit their online auction site to view more hand made items and for a chance to bid.
If you have a Facebook page please share this worthwhile event with your friends.

Keep me up to date with your new creations and the causes close to your heart.  We can all make a difference.

Mom's creativity helps her two Daughters raise money to battle Cystic Fibrosis

Visit her Etsy shop at ">www.etsy.com/shop/BlessedCreations1?ref=seller_info I am a stay at home mom who spends most of her day taking care of two daughters who battle Cystic Fibrosis. Melanie is 17 and Rosie is 12. Melanie and I learned to knit a few years ago during one of our 3 week hospital stays and we have been hooked ever since. Melanie is also the creator of the duct tape creations you see on this site. Last year we started traveling to St Louis Children's Hospital every 6 months for pre-lung transplant care for Melanie. She will need a double lung transplant in the near future. In January 2012 Rosie's health took a turn for the worse. She will also be seeing the lung transplant team beginning in April. It is a 5 hour drive one way for us to travel from our home to St Louis. When the time comes, part of our family will need to relocate to St Louis. At that time we will have two household expenses (staying at the Ronald McDonald house will cost us $750 a month). Our main goal of this etsy shop is to bring in some extra income to help off set the expenses we will face in the near future. We very much appreciate your interest in our creations. Our family has truly been blessed and we hope to be able to share some of that with you.
